Die Schatzinsel — Storyline
A live-action six-part West German/French adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure novel. Although not directly faithful, it is a highly liberal and stylised re-imagining that blends the pirate adventure with the popular genre of the time: the Euro-Western.
In place of the novel's 18th-century setting is a distinct 19th-century 'Wild West' with cowboy style wardrobe and firearms. The central premise remains: a young man, Jim Hawkins, comes into possession of a treasure map and embarks on a voyage to a remote island.

- E1: The Old Buccaneer (1966-12-25) — In 18th-century Bristol, young Jim Hawkins lives in his parents' old inn. Even at the age of 17, the lad has little education, unaware that the large port city is Bristol.
- E2: The Ship's Cook (1966-12-26) — A crash between landlord Trelawney, who has decided to equip a ship for a treasure hunt, and captain Smollett, who was hired for the trip, leads to a chance for adventure.
- E3: The Log Cabin (1966-12-31) — Smollett gives the team shore leave. When he casts off, Jim jumps into a boat and is taken to the island, where he meets overgrown islander Ben Gunn.
- E4: The Decision (1967-01-01) — When Jim returns to the ship, he's horrified to find that it has been overtaken by Silver and his crew.
